My Tech Journey, So Far...

If I ask you how did you start your tech journey or how did you start learning programming how many years does it take you back? For me, it is about 6 years! I mean not continuous 6 years but with some breaks. I still remember I was in 8th standard when I watched this Marathi movie Deool Band. And in that movie, there was a scientist who was working on a project with some crazy computer setup black background on a monitor with green text floating on it, you know what I mean. And that instantly struck my mind, I wanted to do the same I wanted to build my own software and wanted to get a feel like that guy from the movie. You know just typical child thoughts. I did some research and came to know about the world of programming.

And realized its not as easy as I think. The first programing language that I learned was C. And learning about C made me damn clear about basic programming fundamentals like variables, loops, conditional statements, functions etc.

After some time I started learning HTML that too with a book that I stole from my cousin brother :D. I was in just 9th standard at that time and was trying to learn to program on a Windows XP Computer which did not have an internet connection. And that's why I had to follow that book completely, like to write some HTML I was using Notepad! Then of course in 10th standard, I had to prioritize my studies over programming.

But after the 10th board, I started learning to code again but this time it was a roller-coaster! My interests kept shifting and there was no consistency. For some time I used to learn Web Dev then I used to get a lot of interest in Game development so I started Learning Game Dev, Then I tried machine learning, Cyber Security, React and what not. But can you guess what happened? I learned nothing! I was not becoming perfect at anything yet I was spending time on everything.

But then something happened which nobody in this world would have imagined! The pandemic came and the whole world went into lockdown. Honestly, first few days of lockdown went like hibernation, sleeping for 12 hours, watching Ramayan Mahabharat playing board games with family and basically productively wasting time. But after few days I felt like I should do something and this time I seriously started learning Web Development once again from scratch.

And that was also the time when I bought my first Udemy course and that was a game changer. I purchased Dr.Angela Yu's web development bootcamp which is probably the best course if you want a complete package that can take you from a complete beginner to an intermediate-level programmer. By completing that boot camp I understood web development a lot better than before, I learned Nodejs, learned about Public APIs and building my own APIs, MongoDB, and a bit of React. And of course the best thing about learning to code, I built a lot of projects and Gained a lot of confidence.

In this whole journey I got to know about a lot of great content creators like Joma Tech, Code with harry, Free Code Camp, Kunal Kushwaha etc. And I still remember the Quote Joma mentioned in one of his videos, "Codnig welcomes everyone with open arms no matter who you are where are you from, All you need is a notepad and the world becomes your canvas!!". Yes, Programming is amazing.

And the In late 2022 I realized about the open source world and how amazing it is! Although for me open source has just started but believe me I can't forget that first PR of mine that got merged into a real-world application (Layer io), getting those green squares on my Github profile is now a new hobby!

I am looking forward to learn a lot of new technologies and do lot of good work for the community. it would be honestly great if one day I can become like the guys whom I have been watching and getting a lot of inspiration from! At the end what can I say from my experience in these few years is that programming is not difficult, it can sometimes become difficult to learn it! But do not take your steps back keep trying and one day you are going to climb that mountain!
